A Movie Habit micro review
Based on a true story, and scripted by famed POW/author James Clavell, The Great Escape tells of a camp POWs in a German prison planning and executing a huge, bold, and daring escape. An all-star cast includes James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn. Of course, Steve McQueen gives the performance of his career (even if he’s not the most subtle or talented of actors). Unforgettably whistlable music by Elmer Bernstein never overshadows the action. And on top of all that, it is a tense, action-packed, and fun movie.
