This above-average thriller has the added bonus of a daring concept that could have failed terribly. The amnesia victim at the center of the film is Euro-American but the actor portraying him is African-American. Instead of garnering inappropriate laughter it adds to the mystery of the plot. In addition, the film is shot in black and white (clearly to emphasize the odd casting choice). Alone, the thriller would have been forgettable but the twist made it much better.
